Peanut butter fudge

1 stick margarine
1/2 c milk
1 lrg pkg vanilla pudding mix
1/2 c peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
4 3/4 c confectioners' sugar
1/2 c chopped walnuts or pecans (opt)

Melt margarine in saucepan on low heat; add milk and pudding mix. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat; beat in peanut butter. Add vanilla; beat in sugar, 1 cup at a time. Stir in walnuts; pour into buttered 9 inch pan. Cut into squares. Chill.
